How can Parrots talk like Humans?

You must have heard parrots speaking like humans. All the credit goes to parrot's brain, syrinx, and tongue with the help of which he can mimic the human voice.

These neuron clusters or song nuclei are present in the brain of parrots. Whenever a parrot listens to a human, these neuron clusters present in his brain memorize the heard words and generate a signal to form the sound of those words. The parrot becomes able to mimic a human because of this extra shell present inside the nuclei.

This part of parrots is called Syrinx, and this syrinx is the one who is responsible for converting the memorized words in the form of voice. The Syrinx is the vocal cord of a parrot, which is connected to trachea from one side and bronchus from other. There are two independent voice boxes in the syrinx of a parrot responsible for producing high and low frequency sound.

In order to produce a proper sound, parrot controls the flow of air using the syrinx muscles. The sound produced by the syrinx is then spoken out by the parrot in the form of words with the help of twisting ability of his tongue.
